Doris Pflasterer

Doris J. Pflasterer, nee Meng, 80, of Freeburg, IL, born June 14, 1929, in Belleville, IL, died Tuesday, March 9, 2010, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.

Mrs. Pflasterer was an accountant for five years with Meng Furniture, Freeburg, IL, and for 21 years with St. Louis Union Trust Company, St. Louis, MO. She was a member of St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL. She was also a member of the Freeburg Sportsman’s Club. 

Doris was preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, Kent P. Pflasterer, whom she married December 3, 1949, in Freeburg, IL, and who died on August 18, 1996; her parents, Raymond and Lavina, nee Phillips, Meng; a sister, Janice Hoenig; and a brother, Ray Meng.

Surviving are her children, Kent C. (Pam) Pflasterer, Linda S. (Rick) Kessler, John R. Pflasterer, and Carol K. (J.R.) Schmidt, all of Freeburg, IL; grandchildren, Jamie (Jeff) Taylor, Jacob and Kacey Pflasterer, Kristy (Brian) Kimmle, Bryan (Mandy) Kessler, Peter Kessler, Tim, Jeremy, and Zachary Pflasterer, Amber and Taylor Haskins, and Josh Schmidt; great-grandchildren, Jacob and Kolten Pflasterer, Siera Taylor, and Ava, Gavin and Vance Kimmle; her sister, Joyce Hoerr of Belleville, IL.; and a special friend, Jerri Kessler of Freeburg, IL.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or to St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at

Visitation:  Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 11, 2010, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Freeburg, IL, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL.    

Funeral:  Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at St. Paul’s United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL, with the Rev. Earl Crecelius officiating.  

Burial will be at Valhalla Gardens of Memory, Belleville, IL.

Condolences Left For Doris Pflasterer

    Ken, Linda, John and Carol,

    I'm sorry to hear about the passing of your mother.  She was a good neighbor, mother and grandmother!

    It's sad that we are all loosing parents.  The only solace is that through the circle of life we are blessed with children and grand children.  I'm sure your mom would want to pass on her legacy through you all.

     We ar so sorry that we are unable to be present for the Services this morning.  Doris was a great lady and

    Rose and I always enjoyed the brief visits we had with her when we would

    meet at Wal Mart of various places.  

     We particularly recall a nice visit

    we had with Doris and Joyce at the

    Country Buffet this past summer.  

     We will keep Doris in our prayers.
