Marcel Mueller

Marcel A. “Bill” Mueller, 86, of Belleville, IL, born June 29, 1925, in Bartelso, IL, died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Belleville, IL. 

Mr. Mueller was a World War II U.S. Navy veteran, serving from 1943 to 1946.  He worked as a military aircraft radio instructor at Scott Air Force Base, IL, before moving on to his career as a military mapping specialist for the Defense Mapping Agency in St. Louis, MO.  Marcel retired in December 1984 after more than 40 years of service to his country.

He was a member of St. Teresa Parish in Belleville, IL, the 109 Sportsman’s Club, the Mueller family clubhouse, and American Legion Post 976 in Bartelso, IL.  Marcel loved to attend his grandchildren’s sporting events and enjoyed playing board games and cards with family and friends.  His favorite place to be was the family clubhouse, just spending time and sharing stories.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Loretta “Shorty”, nee Becker, Mueller, whom he married on June 1, 1963, in Bartelso, IL, and who died on October 17, 2011; his parents, Joseph and Mary, nee Jansen, Mueller; three brothers, Leonard Mueller, Joseph Mueller, and Paul (Theresa) Mueller; a sister, Sister Agnes Mueller; three brothers-in-law, Robert Becker, Lawrence Becker, and Joe Kampwerth; and two sisters-in-law, Sally Becker and Blanche Becker.

Surviving are three daughters, Sue Slimack (Brad Krueger),
 Janet (Dan) Lidisky,
 and Julie (Kurt) Eversman;
ten grandchildren, Madeline and Hannah Slimack,
 Sam, Miranda, and Jack Lidisky,
 and Kiira, Ryne, Annie, Jake, and Ellie Eversman;
a brother, John (Mary) Mueller;
three sisters, Sister Mary Ann Mueller, Leona (Leo) Beckman, and Rose (Fred) Kreke;
two brothers-in-law, Paul Becker and Frank (Therese Marie) Becker;
four sisters-in-law, Rose (Hank) Wilken, Agnes Kampwerth, Gertrude Becker,
 and Mary Mueller;
numerous nieces and nephews; and friends.

Memorials may be made to P.S.O.P. (Programs & Services for Older Persons) at Southwestern Illinois College or to the Belleville Public Library.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.
 
Visitation:  Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 31, 2012, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, and from 9:30 to 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at the church.

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday, June 1, 2012, at St. Teresa Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Father Sean Palas officiating.  Entombment with military honors will be held at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery Mausoleum, Belleville, IL.

    So very sorry for your loss. Marcel was always so friendly to me and he always took time at family gatherings to greet me and speak with me. We had a very nice conversation on Monday afternoon.
