Delmar J. Burns, 89, of Belleville, IL, born November 2, 1922, in Belleville, IL, died Wednesday, May 30, 2012, at Caseyville Nursing and Rehab Center, Caseyville, IL.
Mr. Burns retired from Memorial Hospital, Belleville, IL. He was a member St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, and also was a member of the Belleville Senior Citizens Club. A U.S. Army World War II veteran, Delmar was a member and past commander of Catholic War Veterans Post 370, Belleville, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph M. and Sophia, nee Gotch, Burns.
Surviving are his beloved wife of 65 years, Bernice A., nee Schwaegel, Burns, whom he married on November 6, 1946;
four children, Karen M Burns (companion, Jack Kastner) of Lampe, MO,
Audrey A. (Richard) Cygan of Fairview Heights, IL,
Kevin C. (Judith) Burns of Leesburg, VA,
and Christopher J. Burns of La Grange, IL;
11 grandchildren, Stephen (Michelle) Cygan,
Tricia (Mike) Viviano,
Amy (Rick) Williams,
Megan Burns, Andrew Burns,
Patrick Burns, Kate Burns,
Carson Burns, Chandler Burns,
and Mason Burns;
two great-grandchildren, Caroline Williams and Wesley Romeo;
a brother, Jack Burns of Maryland Heights, MO;
two sisters-in-law, Celeste (Stan) Agne of Belleville, IL,
and Helen Toennies of Breese, IL;
a brother-in-law, Cletus (Dorothy) Schwaegel of O’Fallon, IL;
and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 2012, at George Renner & Sons Funeral Home, Belleville, IL. A prayer service will be held at 4 p.m. followed by a Catholic War Veterans ritual at 4:15 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Funeral: Funeral procession will leave at 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, from the funeral home for a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at St. Henry Catholic Church, Belleville, IL, with Rev. Kenneth York officiating. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Shiloh, IL.
