Marie Kern

Mary “Marie” Kern, nee Guetterman, 93, of Freeburg, IL, born September 9, 1918, in New Athens Township, IL, died Monday, July 2, 2012, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.

Mrs. Kern was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, Clarence J. Kern, whom she married October 19, 1937, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Freeburg, IL, and who died February 12, 2002; her parents, Fred and Catherine, nee Holtgrave, Guetterman; four sisters, Betty Voellinger, Anita Graham, Sister Marceline Helen Guetterman, and Ruth Kelso; and three brothers, Daniel, Herbert, and Fred Guetterman.

Surviving are a daughter, Carol (Richard) Rodriguez of Freeburg, IL;
a son, Dennis Kern of Burlington, KY;
five grandchildren, Kevin (Judy) Rodriguez of Madison, AL,
 Kristin Rodriguez of Bowie, MD,
 Kent Rodriguez of Belleville, IL,
 Michael Kern of El Paso, TX,
 and Steve Kern of Burlington, KY;
six great-grandchildren;
four great-great-grandchildren;
three brothers, Paul Guetterman of Collinsville, IL,
 and Jim (Rosie) Guetterman and Charles (Ethel) Guetterman, both of Belleville, IL;
and nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made in the form of Masses or to Family Hospice.  Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.rennerfh.com.

Visitation:  Friends may call from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL. 

Funeral:  A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11 a.m. Friday, July 6, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL, with Father Mark Reyling officiating. 

Burial will follow at Green Mount Catholic Cemetery, Belleville, IL.
