Loretta Rubemeyer
Loretta L. “Lori” Rubemeyer, nee Liefer, 75, of Freeburg, IL, born January 5, 1937, in Red Bud, IL, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at Freeburg Care Center, Freeburg, IL.
A 1955 graduate of Red Bud High School, Lori graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in St. Louis, MO, in 1958 and from McKendree College, Lebanon, IL, with a major in psychology in 1976. She went on to earn a master of science degree in education from Southern Illinois University – Edwardsville in 1980. Lori worked as school nurse and health education teacher for New Athens School District 60 for 18 years, retiring on June 30, 1996. Her love of nursing was of major importance in her life.
Mrs. Rubemeyer was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL. She enjoyed her travels over the years, including five trips to Europe and 12 cruises, and was a light plane aircraft pilot. Her hobbies included bridge, tennis, reading, and dancing. She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, condo life, and shopping.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William L. and Alvina, nee Mehring, Liefer; two brothers, Walter and Leroy Liefer; and a sister, Wilma Liefer.
Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Roger L. Rubemeyer, whom she married on October 18, 1958;
two sons, Scott A.(Julie) Rubemeyer of Cincinnati, OH,
and Todd D. Rubemeyer of Freeburg, IL;
seven grandchildren, Abigail, Max, Dexter, and Jett Rubemeyer,
Zachary (Libby) Rubemeyer, USMC, and Alysse and Vanessa Rubemeyer;
a sister, Bernadine (Ray) Erber of Chicago, IL;
four brothers, Wilfred (Loretta) Liefer of Red Bud, IL
Omer (Neva) Liefer of Baldwin, IL,
Orville (Nancy) Liefer of Red Bud, IL,
and Ralph (Sally) Liefer of Phoenix, AZ;
nieces and nephews;
and a dear friend, Colette Adrian.

Funeral: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, August 10, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Freeburg, IL, with Father Mark Reyling officiating.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Freeburg, IL.
