John C. Flood, 79, of Smithton, IL, born August 18, 1934, in Cortland, NY, died Thursday, September 12, 2013, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital, St. Louis, MO.
Mr. Flood was a grain elevator manager throughout Illinois before his retirement.
He was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Ola Aundice, nee Tays, Flood; and a nephew, Doyle Parker.
Surviving are his loving wife of 60 years, Shirley, nee Stewart, Flood, whom he married on June 28, 1953;
two daughters, Carol (Kevan) Griebel of Lenzburg, IL,
and Karen (Tim) Meyer of New Athens, IL;
four grandchildren, Erin Griebel,
Jenny (Matthew) Kaiser,
Tony (Rachel) Meyer,
and Kasey (Travis Little) Meyer;
four great-grandchildren, Abigayle Grace Meyer,
Gweneth Autumn Meyer,
Natalie Ann Kaiser,
and Nathan Joseph Kaiser;
one sister, Ruth True of Mattoon, IL;
and two sisters-in-law, Ann Stewart of Katy, TX,
and Barbara (Bud) Green of Trilla, IL.
